The Oscars has female actresses, singers and general showbiz personalities from far and wide worrying and stressing over the hair, the makeup and the right dress to make sure that they are met with great applause from the general public. One wrong hair out of place or a dress that is not deemed to be suitable and they are to be forever plastered on the “What not to wear” pages of glossy magazines from here to eternity.

This year’s Oscars brought with it a variety of looks and hairstyles, some good and some which were not so. As usual, Kate Winslet ruled the celebrity hairstyle roost with a 50’s look that looked almost like a bob but without having to lose any of the long hair. Swept back from her face and sculpted into a cute, rolled under style, she looked elegant and regal and was very in tune with Kate’s hair over recent red carpet events.

Penelope Cruz is another one that got it right this year with a look that was almost reminiscent of Audrey Hepburn. Long bangs that were just slightly pushed to one side and a neat bun at the back of the head made her look well styled and graceful, especially when she went to accept her well deserved Oscar.

There were so many stars that got it right this year in the hairstyle stakes. Angelina Jolie went for an almost scruffy look that still looked sexy and pretty and Amanda Seyfried opted for long and loose waves that were shiny and glossy.
